Probably due to automated scanning of posts for advertisement/profiling.

It's causing some extra server load, but probably nothing too serious.

Basically, the only way to battle this is to turn MURC into a members-only forum with very strict sign-up conditions.

Do MURCers really want this?

Now at 57,546 views and it went up by 8 views in 2 minutes! And this when the subject is no longer relevant! Wow! It hasn't quite gone viral, closer to a virus!

I wonder if the fact that there are some external links are on the post plays a part... Search engines are interested in knowing which pages link to which sites...
