There may be a Super Heavy hop by October o_0

Any update on this year’s Starship event? Still aiming for September?

    Elon Musk @elonmusk
Neuralink this month & Tesla next month, SpaceX probably October. We will have made a lot of progress by then. Might have a prototype booster hop done by then.

So, a 2 engine Super Heavy hop before October's SpaceX update event

      Raptor today: 210 Tf = 462,971 lbf
      Raptor in 6-9 months: 250 Tf = 551,156 lbf
RaptorVac progressing well (short nozzle tested, long nozzle test upcoming)

@elonmusk @Erdayastronaut @flcnhvy @DJSnM How is raptor vacuum testing going?

@tobyliiiiiiiiii @Erdayastronaut @flcnhvy @DJSnM Testing with shorter RVac skirt went well. Full length skirt test coming soon.

        SN-06 hop.

        No boomski.

Little bit of a fire from a small tube at the bottom of the skirt that flared previously, but the water cannon put it out.

            SpaceX released their video

Next week there is a road closure, likely SN-06 going back to the shipyard and the SN-07.1 test tank going to the new test stand. SN-07.1 is made of a custom 30L stainless alloy used for the SN-08 and later vehicles, and will be tested to failure.

SN-09 and SN-10 construction has begun.

Starship FCC Special Temporary Authority (STA) for flights to 20 km (12.43 miles) from October 11, 2020 to April 11, 2021.

This FCC permit is for telemetry, FAA will issue flight permits later. Maximum permitted altitudes are likely to increase over time.

                      https://fcc.report/ELS/Space-Explora...401-EX-ST-2020

                      >
This STA uses information from previous grant 1041-EX-ST-2020 and is necessary to authorize Starship Prototype suborbital test vehicle communications for Medium Altitude Hops Tests_2 (max altitude 20km) from the Boca Chica launch pad, and the experimental recoveries following the suborbital hops. Trajectory data will be provided directly to NTIA, USAF, and NASA. Launch licensing authority is FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation.

Pretty accurate simulation, although SN8 will use 3 Raptors. If SN8 craters, SN9 & SN10 are close behind. High production rate allows for fast iteration.

It's nuts now! SN8, 9, 10 and 11! what SN Starship do you think could reach orbit first when SpaceX begins to do orbital tests?

Just a guess, but probably mid teens. Booster & stacking on orbital pad are likely limiting factors. We’ll build several ships just to improve the production system.
