The story is quite old (on internet since 2011-2012)... According to Snopes ( https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/deer-crossing/ ), it started with a letter sent to an Indiana news paper, but while the letter is real, they do not know if it was intended seriously or not.Comment

The theory is blue light is not present in nature and should dissuade animals from crossing.
Last year I had to stop completely twice as deer was standing in the middle of the road.Comment
