    Starship SN-10 launch thread

Looking like an SN-10 launch soon, incorporating lessons learned.

Today they pressure tested to failure a 3mm custom stainless steel test tank in the drive to reduce Starship mass under 90-100 tonnes. Needed to see how pressure it could take.

    Everyday Astronaut@Erdayastronaut
Of course, @SpaceX isn't "dumb" as @elonmusk joked, but they definitely are trying to bite off a lot with these early test flights and there's certainly room for improvement. We'll go over how we'll likely see this maneuver evolve and what upgrades we'll see in the future.

It was foolish of us not to start 3 engines & immediately shut down 1, as 2 are needed to land

    Replying to @elonmusk @Erdayastronaut and @SpaceX
Will these changes be able to be implemented into the SN10 test flight?

    SN-10 cryoproof looks good.

Next stop; static fire. If that's good, flight.

A couple of screenshots from Starship SN10's cryoproofing. Looks like it went well based on previous examples. Waiting for the frost to go back down and road opening, etc. ➡️https://t.co/oBVK60a8NZ

Static fire to engine swap to a 2nd static fire in 48 hours. They still may fly again this week.

The rumble was AMAZING from MARS [Studio B] 😍 super impressed they went from static to engine swap and back to static in just 48 hours. Happy to be wrong with turn around times on that! 🙌 Now we just wait for @elonmusk with an update to when they’ll fly #SN10!!!

Flew great, but 2+ landing gear failed to lock. The hard landing broke loose methane fixtures causing a fire. Still she was standing upright.

Later, the fire caused a gas explosion, destroying the vehicle, but it was single use anyhow.

SN-11 rolls out soon for it's turn, and SN-15 forward have leg changes. Won't see the final legs for a few more flights. SN's 12-14 are cancelled because of upgrades to 15+ made them irrelevant.

Also: SpaceXers "Big John" Insprucker (Principal Integration Engineer/webcaster) and Garrett Reisman (former astronaut & VP of Commercial Crew) are calling Starship the belly flop the Adama Maneuver #SoSayWeAll #BSG
