This in old post surprising it came back up again. Runs fine under Mandrake 8.2 of course. At the time though Linux didn't know anything about the controllers and wasn't worth messing around with to get working.

I run debian personally... provided with debian are a series of different kernels you can choose to boot the installation system, one of which contains the non-standard ide support needed to see my drive.
