Noticed that one today. I've been waiting for that driver update for quite a while. Have you already tried it (I have not)? Is it faster?

I just installed the new drivers and the new PowerDesk. They haven't blown up in an hour of use. :-)

Re performance: Q3A benchmark seems to be unchanged, RTCW/Linux display the menus ok (can't find a server to actually play the game).

So far I see no drawbacks to the new code.

The link to the Matrox Tech Support Forum that you posted had a guy who apparently doesn't realize that there isn't a Kyro driver for linux yet. I will certainly go back to Matrox as soon as they release a card that is nice and fast. It's good that they finally fixed the Multi-texturing problem, though if I recall, one of the cooker releases in Mandrake for XFree86 added that. Laters
