When using HAL, no lowres modes

I recently discovered that if I used Matrox HAL library, I couldn't get any lowres video modes, like 400x300, 320x240 etc. I have Millenium G450 DH DDR AGP, and I'm using Slackware 8.0 and XFree86 4.2.0. When HAL was on, it reported: "Default mode [insert any lowres mode] not available (bad mode clock/interlace/doublescan)". Instantly after I set 'Option "NoHAL" "yes" ' I could use them. Just wanted to inform you.
