video capture

Hi.

I've got my RH 7.3 system humming along smoothly and I want to be able to capture video from my G400-TV card.

That would be Phase 1 anyway. After I figure that part out, I would like to embark on Phase 2- editing.

What seems to be the best method of capturing video in linux for the G400?

Check out http://marvel.sourceforge.net first off. There you'll find the proper drivers for the card for doing captures. Then I found a link to a terrific video editing suite that's completely free.

Good luck, and I'd like to know how it goes (since this was an argument in another thread about linux not being good for video editing )

Funny thing - I just installed cinelarra and it looks pretty intense. It's a good thing I have a little clue as to what I'm doing, but it's still going to take a long time to learn how to use it.

Anyway, the capture function doesn't want to work with my G400 (yet) so I'll make some inquiries and see what missing and pertinent driver or module or whatever I have to install.

You might also want to try the CVS version of the driver. I could never even get the normal one to compile, I always worked through CVS, but then again I never did try to capture anything with it. Good luck. Tell me how it works out for you (Since Dr. Mordrid and I had a conversation about video editing on linux one time...)
