Concerning 3D support for Parhelia/Linux

I emailed Matrox Sales about this, just to see what they say and here's straight from the lion's mouth.

At the moment we are working on 3D support under Linux, unfortunately there is no word on when and how much 3D support there will be

How much? Why should they support it any less than what they do in Windows? Or is that not what they meant? Are they considering skipping a few features here and there to make their linux-drivers artificially inferior? Maybe I'm just reading too much in to this, but it sounds really strange to me.

Yeah, I was kind of bummed as well, I hope at least all the matrox specific things will be implimented.

It's fact!!! All make firts good drivers for windummie and then they make some good drivers for linux like NV did. ImHo i hope good drivers for the Parhelia under lInux with 3D Support @ a good level.

I'm not sure I agree or disagree, I don't know what makes something firt, but I hope my linux drivers don't firt.

Hey, at least they're working on it. When the Parhelia was released Matrox stated an intention to support 2D in Linux, but made no comittment on 3D whatsoever.

Sounds like good news to me.

Actually when they attended SIGGRAPH someone that posted on linuxgames.com has asked some guy, and he stated that it was their intention to support every feature of the Parhelia, 2D and 3D, in linux. I'll look on there now and see if I can find that post.
