Most SAMBA friendly version of Linux?

    Most SAMBA friendly version of Linux?

    I just want a Linux distribution to run SAMBA and config network settings as easily as possible. Any reccomendations?

    Well Mandrake sux bigtime on this. Redhat at work worked out of the box on two machines dunno about the rest of the distro's.

        THe Pit: Figured, I have Mandrake! I guess I'll give RH a shot?

          Slackware. Comes preinstalled with SAMBA, and no clunky GUI to get in your way

            Oh have a go it's fun trying to get it too work.

            This is what I found with mandunk.

            Version 8 would only work with a fixed IP.
            8.1 spent a week bug hunting and everything checked out. A friend said use xmsbrowser and bingo it popped up saying the password was wrong. This was despite resetting it at the command prompt several times. Bingo connection and I could mount the drives. However Konquer still wouldn't work.
            Version 9 wouldn't work at all wouldn't even let me reset the password. Version 9.1 worked after a lot of prompting but in a very funny way.

              Funny, I had no problems with getting it to work with Mandrake 9.1 Ok, well I did, but finally what it came down to is I just had to share a directory with Nautilus. Worked like a charm. And actually the only reason I had any trouble at all is because I was trying to mount a directory within Linux that was my old Fat32 drive I had connected to my windows Machine. It works great now.

                Doh, i already have RH9 installed. Haven't tried to share anything w/ it yet...

                    WOW.

                    WEll, anyway, I did get the RH one working pretty well...was pretty easy.

                    However, i started the VNC server service, i get a message saying it's running, but it's status is "stopped" and I can't connect to it. WTH?
