Nope, that won't help. The files are, unfortunately, corrupted. We'll have to wait for matrox to upload them again.

Uhm.. Don't get your hopes up just yet

        From the README:

        Known driver problems
        =====================

        - OpenGL apps freeze on SMP machines when run from a window manager. They
will run correctly if X is started from 'xinit' instead of 'startx'.
They still have some small quirks to work out, like getting it to work with a window manager (but nobody is using those anyway, right )

Ok guys, don't know if this helps.... but the private ftp sites that the Cad guys sent me the link to, does have a tar.gz on there for the 'beta3' ones. Just not the 'beta4' (so called 'pro') yet. And that one ungzipped/tarred just fine, but of course since my 845PE isn't detected by the agpgart that I have with the 2.4.20 kernel installed..... then it just says "Mtx module loaded on AGP Unkown.... " or something like that. Damned the bad luck. AGPgart on this system recognizes the chipset as 845G, which I believe is an onboard graphics chipset, right?

The CAD-guys promised they would put up a tar-file of beta4, so I'll wait for that before gving it another try.

Any guesses on wether or not this will work on non-RedHat Distros?

Well, I sure hope it will work on other distros. Nowhere on their site did it say that their Linux driver would be for RedHat only when I bought my card.

Fair enough, but where would be a good mirror to download RH 9?

Are they still on the ftp? I can't find them, and I'm not keen on filling in the "Matrox Registration System" to get them .

No, you have to fill in the registration to get them. They are not on their regular FTP.

Sort of. Still no Xvideo, still no TV-out and the drivers that support OpenGL doesn't work for me.

according to xdpyinfo, XVideo is there.....

The problem I'm having, (and I've had this since upgraded my motherboard to a Asus P4PE) is that AGPgart keeps saying that my chipset is a I845G when it's a I845PE.

I'm installing Kernel 2.5.70 right now to see if I can get this to work right......

As of now, the mtx.o module isn't being 'used' which used to work when I had my Asus CUSL2 (I815E chipset.) Talk about pissing me off!

Hey 845G and 845PE is exactly (exactly!) the same thing, except on board video. So don't you worry about it

Ben said you need to delete the libparhl.so too.

Now I am going to try some in RH8 and FreeBSD (yes FreeBSD!).
                                See how it goes.

                                You know, me 845PE too
