  • Morphix won't load because of resource conflict?

I tried to load up Morphix to see how well it'd install to the harddrive. (Now I don't really need that, I'm just wondering about this odd little occurance....) It said that PCI 00:1f.1 had a resource conflict (or something to that effect) Well, I just did a lspci -v and it shows that 00:1f.1 is the IDE controller.

00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82801DB ICH4 IDE (rev 02) (prog-if 8a [Master SecP PriP])
Subsystem: Asustek Computer, Inc.: Unknown device 8089
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 14
    I/O ports at <unassigned> [size=8]
    I/O ports at <unassigned> [size=4]
    I/O ports at <unassigned> [size=8]
    I/O ports at <unassigned> [size=4]
    I/O ports at f000 [size=16]
    Memory at 20000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=1K]

Now as you can see here.... my IDE is disabled in the Bios itself, since I have no need for it (I have all SCSI). Why would there be a resource conflict for something that isn't even taking any resources? (well, at least it shouldn't be.) I realize I could/should probably fix this by enabling the IDE in the BIOS, but just leaving the controllers set to 'none'.

What I'm wondering though, is could this be why sometimes I have problems with my SBLive 5.1?

Not sure if it was just Wine or because of the problems with the SBLive that I have occasionally, but it popped quite a bit in Diablo 2 (I was also thinking it might be because I didn't have Alsa installed at the time... but that's for a different thread I think ) But in Windows (haven't really had much of the problem besides the one mentioned above) that whenever there is hard disk access across the SCSI card, it makes mp3's sound somewhat like a record player that's just been bumped...

When I moved my SBLive to a different PCI slot (the one right below my Parhelia, which of course probably made it heat up more than it needed to.) it worked just fine. So I'm thinking conflict somewhere between my SCSI card (Adaptec 19160) and my SBLive.

I have a P4PE and the cards are on PCI slots 2 (SBLive) and 3 (19160). I also have a WinTV card which IS sharing IRQ's with the SBLive (9). The 19160 has an IRQ of 11.
