  • CD burning prog for RH9?

Something, simple, stable, and compatible. Anyone know of any that I can download and install for RH9? Linkage?

I haven't gotten my CD-Burner to work yet, but K3B looks really nice and it was highly recommended to me. You'll need KDE base files though.

Download K3b - The CD Creator for KDE for free. K3b is a highly usable and very userfriendly cd writing program.

First of all, make sure you have cdrecod and cdrdao installed. Those are command line programs för CD writing. Then, take a look at gcombust. It's an excellent GTK interface for cdrecord.

Type "gcombust" in a terminal window, or make a shortcut to it on your desktop if you run one of those...

This is after installing the rpm by double clicking on it...

Have you've tried the tarball instead?
              ./configure
              make
              make install
              <font size="-4">User error:

Did anything happen when you double clicked on it?

                  Here's the tar-ball: http://www.abo.fi/~jmunsin/gcombust/...-0.1.55.tar.gz
                  But the rpm should work.

                      That's weird.

If it was installed, the find command should find it.

I'm not familiar with the RPM you used, where did you get it?

I completely forgot where I got it now. I'll try that tar, i guess.

                          the ./configure works fine.

the make and make install both return errors.

note: not all of the output went into the text file.

What if you try installing the RPM from the command line? Use rpm -Uhv gcombust-0.1.55-1.fr.i386.rpm

Does it give any error messages? It might be that there is an unmet dependency that is keeping it from being installed.

Just type 'apt-get install gcombust' oh wait, you're using RH... Ok, enough of me being an ass. Mallowman has it right, run it from the command line, it'll tell you if you are missing any dependancies. You would think that it would through the GUI, but apparently RH hasn't gotten the idea in their heads yet that MAYBE some of their users might actually want to be able to install 3rd party packages. Granted if you could find gcombust on freshrpms.net then you should be able to apt-get it anyhow.

Edit: Indeed gcombust is in the freshrpms repository http://freshrpms.net. gcombust-0.1.55-1.fr.i386.rpm is the very filename of it. If you follow the instructions there and install apt4rpm then you can 'apt-get install gcombust' from the command line and it'll fetch it. While you're at it, I'd recommend installing synaptic as it is an excellent package installer/downloader for apt.
