I just installed Mandrake 9.2 on an old machine I had sitting around.. Celeron 300A @450 + 256MB Ram in an Intel 810 based motherboard and a Matrox 10/100 Nic.. installed fine, detected everything. I added an old winmodem in the machine, only to have Mandrake tell me that I had removed my NIC, though it did find the modem. .. I moved the modem to a different slot, now it told me that I added the NIC again, but could not find the modem.. strange behaviour.
as for where to download from.. I got it from www.linuxiso.org .. lots to choose from there, and nobody asking for money
