  • Windows "Longhorn" development costs - LOL

    Hi!

    Sorry, couldn't resist posting it....

    ---
THE MOON AND THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE ON IT
Bill Gates announced several weeks ago that development of the next-generation Windows operating system (code-named Longhorn) will cost as much as it cost the U.S. to put a man on the Moon.

Why stop there? Since inflation isn't being considered, the development of Longhorn is also costing more than the Siege of Carthage, the Great Wall of China, and the construction of the Great Pyramids. In fact, it's costing more than all the ancient Wonders of the World--combined!

Night Call, in contrast, costs more to write than a potato cost in the fifteenth century.

    A big potato.

I think I'm going to issue a press release touting that.

Now they need to change the code-name for the project. Longhorn? That's certainly not a name of appropriate stature for a project that's costing as much as it cost to send a man to the moon. Say hello to--The Sum of All Human Knowledge©.

Err, I just hope Longhorn won't be something like 500-1000$ to buy when it's out.

Ive used longhorna couple of times and its very smooth, of course it has its bugs, every onece ina while it crashes on my comp cuz its a 64 bit os, and 32 bit processors are not stable for it.....yet. again I only used the beta and alot of betas of teh longhorn I think tehy have had about 3-6? soemthing like that Ive used them all they all just seem to get better and fixed. IM looking forward to longhorn.

I won't use longhorn. XP does everything that I use windows for fine, gaming. Well, gaming and I use my webcam, though that won't be for much longer anyhow. Other than keeping Xp around for when I go to network parties so I can play all the games, I just run linux. And even some of the games I still play under linux I just wish they'd port Raven Shield. I LOVE that game...

                I'm delving into Linux....
Longhorn just seems to be the even vorse bloated version of XP, so I'll stay wit w2k and going towards linux if I need a never OS

There's always been a bit of a rivalry between the states of Washington and Oregon. Kind of a Pacific Northwest brotherly feud.

Coffee Culture (corporate and local) such as Starbucks vs Coffee People. Starbucks kind of won... so we are now onto microbrews.
Oh and OSDL is based in Oregon!

Anyways, what does this have to with Longhorn? Well I try not to use products from Washington...
