Ok, I managed to get my email running again... Odd little bugger. And I have the driver installed. First impressions; I'm using the whiteglass cursor theme, and all is well, except that whenever I movie a window in Gnome 2.4 (using Metacity window manager) the mouse cursor disappears, and in it's place is a straight black line. It's not the theme causing this, because I tried several different ones. Also with Triple-head enabled, the mouse cursor kind of 'hops' between the screens. (To describe this better... rather than being able to have the mouse cursor move smoothly between screens, as it should, it waits until it is totally off one then appears completely on the other one. It is a rather odd annoyance...)

So far Xv looks to be working great with mplayer Anyone else had some issues?

Issues, using the new 3D driver

I didn't get yet the mail from Matrox but i've used the username/password i've got for the beta 4 3D-driver and the link i've found on the forum of matrox :

I'm using SuSE 8.2, kernel 2.4.20 on AMD XP under Xfree 4.3.0. DPMS, Xv and opengl is working really good.

I've noticed a similar thing as leech for the cursor. Under KDE 3.1 when i watch a video (dvd or divx) with xine or mplayer the cursor of the mouse disappear and then go black. It disapear when i clic on the mouse once again.

Yeah, there are some serious issues with the Mouse. I'm using XFree86 4.3.0.1 (according to xdpyinfo). The debian packages are v 4.3.0-0pre1v4 from experimental... The worse issue is on certain websites, the cursor simply disappears and then re-appears when I move it over a link or text. I'm wondering if Gigacolor enabled (change color depth to 30 in XF86Config-4) would make any difference to this. I tried it with HWCursor on and that hasn't helped any. (Unless of course I typed the option in wrong) Anyone know how long the christmas vacation for Matrox is??? (Granted, their forums won't open up 'til Monday anyhow...)

Hi,

I got an information from reliable source (witch unfortunately I can't reveal),
that the new Linux drivers would give us the opportunity to use TripleHead Independent mode!
The person who gave me this hint said that we must figure out the right settings on ourself.

Because I don't have Linux installed on my PC at the moment and I'm still pretty much newbie with Linux after all,
I would like to ask, if you guys would find a way to do this and tell the others about it.

Yes, I know this sounds weird, but now that I heard what I heard, I'm starting to believe it has been a "limitation" made by marketing people.
Or maybe the way to control multiple monitors in Linux is so much different to Windows, that it can be done via software.

I always thought it was a hardware limitation. I think since Matrox themselves create the drivers, that any Windows limitation they could find a way around, if it were possible to do so with hardware.... hope that made sense...

Anyhow, found out that HWCursor is ON by default, when I turned it off, the mouse corruption is no longer there...

Running dual monitor, independent mode in Windows, the cursor does the same thing. Move to the edge, and when the last pixel of the cursor goes offscreen, the cursor pops onto the next monitor.

Ok, your first post intrigued me a bit, so I did some experimenting, and well.. try out the attached XF86Config. (the forum won't accept it if it doesn't have an extension. Just remove .txt)

PS. Don't forget to change monitor refreshrates, mouse and keyboard settings.

I tried it out, but at first it gave me an error, saying the card on PCI:1:0:0 did not have a setting... So I changed all the PCI:1:5:0 to that and then it just gave me some Kernel handling error (if I can capture it to a text file later on, I'll post it here.)

It would be cool to have it working in Triple-head independant. (Is that what ForceTHI is?) Seems VMWare has an issue with the color. It will BSOD with Windows 2000 and WinXP pro if I try to go into 32-bit, which forces it to change to at least 1400x1050 (or some such resolution). So to use VMWare right now, I'd have to use either a dual or single head set up.
