  • knoppix help

Ok, for some reason when we boot of off my friend's laptop, when we're prompted by the knoppix "boot" menu, we can't enter text, and F2 does not work. It eventually times out and loads on it's own.

The same CD works flawlessly in my desktop.

I very occasionally get something like this on my laptop, except I can type at the bootloader, but the keyboard doesn't work once Linux has booted. Not sure if this is a problem with Linux or the laptop. Suspending and resuming fixes it though, so give that a try.

Can you get into BIOS setup?

LILO and Grub both use the BIOS for keyboard input, I think. They both work fine with a USB keyboard plugged into an Abit AT7 (Legacy-Free MB).

Also fine on my laptop and several other computers.

Yep, we can get into the BIOS fine.

@Ribbit - Are you saying to try to suspend and resume at the boot prompt?

Yes, although to be honest I don't think it'll work. I think the issue I'm having is a Linux bug.

Plus if it's ACPI, it's the OS's job to suspend/resume anyway.
