    Works for XP so it's got to be running. Doesn't for win2k.

    By the way our network doesn't support active directory.

      did you enable the guest account in 2k?

      (there are 3 conditions for this:
      - the guest account must have read (or other) permissions in the filesystem for each share if the filesystem is NTFS (enabled for 2k by default last time I tried, disabled for xp)
      - the guest account needs to be enabled in 'local users and groups -> users' (disabled by default for both 2k and xp)
      - the guest account must have permission to connect over the network. You can set this in microsoft management console somewhere, but I think it's enabled by default for 2k and disabled for xp. )
