  • Linux Newbie needs help

    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone in the know could help me out here. Just installed Fedora....3 (I think its 3) I can't play streaming or media file video like Windows media player would. Is there a free linux program I could download to do this???? If so I dont have the slightest Idea how to install it if it involves using the "console" or "command prompt" or whatever they call it. I have to say besides this my experiance so far has been great... its very stable , well featured and easy to use so far.

Yeah, you need mplayer. Actually, you probably already have mplayer. What you need are the codecs.

      and full instructions:

These codecs are left out for legal reasons, or it would have "just worked."

Sorry, Capt. I would have replied to you earlier this morning, but had to go do that work thing... But Wombat has it covered. I've never used Fedora Core myself, always been more of a Debian user
