Never underestimate what obsessed geeks can achieve
Opie for palm TX
It’s been done before on the older monochrome devices but that required a rom manipulator tools etc etc.
This runs from the SD card and apparently only screws up the clock (no it’s not 1939
)
Apart from the live cd’s this is the easiest I have ever tested Linux on any device
Copy 3 files to sd card and edit one text file
Boot up took a while (loading pc linux on 32mb and 300mhz isn’t fast either ).
I was impressed with Opie, thought everything is rendered small its very readable and I’m loonging for being able to use firefox on it
Trying to play an mpeg file ofcourse almost downed it (only a bit over one mb left of ram, I shouldn’t have skipped the swap
).
When this gets more done its going to be really impressive.
