  • joining a linux box to AD

So I'm setting up new download box 4 (1 winXP, 2 SuSE 10.1, 3 never worked 4 Debian 6) and I've managed to join it into windows domain.

Authentication works but I currently have problems with samba shares working with domain users (local linux user works, AD user won't work). I think I need to clean up debian smb.conf which is usually a mess.

Otherwise AD authentication is working, I can SSH or log graphically or through freeNX client into machine with my AD account.

And from KDE desktop I can browse shares on Windows server without authentication if I log with my AD account.

Also in Evolution my Exchange 2003 account works, though Evolution doesn't use winbind (but so do not Windows boxes for Outlook mobile access)

    I'm using this guide:

Cool stuff: I joined linux box to domain and SSHed with domain account and it works.

testparam smb.master.conf >smb.conf does the cleanup nicely

      Everything works now.

I can log once into linux box with my domain account and domain password.

Then I can browse shares on windows server in dolphin without being asked for password and I can browse my homedir and dirs I have permission to on linux box from other Windows machines.
