That's an Athlon 64 we're talking about, not even an Athlon 64 FX. Single channel DDR. OK, Athlon 64 is very well designed

Must... get... one... of... those... next... year...!!!

        What about an Athlon 64 Mobile + Radeon 9600 Mobility + 15" WSXGA+ + DVD+/-RW drive?

        me... wants....

Depends on what you want it to do. But generally good.

All on a 9500pro, just clocked to 373 Core and 326Memory, with the VGA Silencer from Arctic-Cooling.com.....just popped it on, and pushed the slider all the way. No other mods at all...
Needless to say, i'm very happy

Yes, this is a single channel Athlon64, which is roughly the same price as a P4 C 3.2 GHz here - but better performing as a gaming CPU. And the A64 mainboards cost the same here as the i875 P4 boards do, but are extremely well equipped (can you say Dual SATA RAID onboard?...). The best thing is: you can keep your non-ECC DDR-RAM and still use it with the A64.

But in contrary to the A64, the A64FX IMO is way overpriced. The A64 CPU apparently is extremely well balanced regarding available memory bandwidth and the amount the CPU can use - the A64FX while having TWICE the maximum throughput only manages about 5-10% higher performance at a MUCH higher cost . So the FX doesn't seem a viable choice at all when looking at price/performance ratio at all. Not to speak about having to use expensive (and mostly slow, too) registered RAM...

I saw one of these announced here. With the above specs for only €1599!!
Too bad I already got a R9600 Mobility based notebook...
