Film to DV (off topic)

Anyone know a place that does [cheap|quality] film to DV transfers so I can edit on my desktop? Ideally, I want to take some 16mm prints and get them put onto mini-dv, but I can accomodate other formats. Okay, so I *could* go through VHS/Beta with my current lab, but I just want to see what the quality would be like.

where are you located? Do you mind shipping the negatives? Is New York a problem? i used DuArt Film and Video in NY for all my procession and telecine and they were both very good and very accomedating with my finances as an independent.
