  • Help Using Titles w/ Gradient Backgrounds MSP

    Hi Everyone,

I Just purchased MSP 5.0 Full Ver. and have been using 2.5 VE.
I created a BMP logo in Title deko that came bundled with my pinnacle studio 400.

I don't know if anyone knows how to make this ver. Of Title Deko export the saved file as a Bmp, Jpeg, Tif, Gif etc.

Anyways I used the PrintScreen/SysRQ button on my keyboard to place on the clipboard.
I later pasted this into a photo editing program. Croped it and wahla.

Now My problem is that when I rendered this .BMP picture in MSP 2.5 into a Mjpeg avi my logo that had a gradient background appears as if it was made using 256 colors.

I had saved it as a 24 bit .BMP file.
Any suggestions on how to correct this or what I can Use for tittles that have a gradient background.?
Any Tittling software for MSP 5.2 recommended.?
    Thanks

First, you should be on the right track with a .BMP file. I haven't used Title Deko, but the .BMP format should do what you want. The problem is that when you copy anything to the clipboard, you create a .WMF file, which is indeed 256 colours. Sorry, but the fact that you "saved" your file as a .BMP does nothing if you don't actually use that file. You should simply place that saved .BMP file on an overlay track using the Insert Image File route.

PS. personally, I most often use Photoshop for titles. I get great gradients and font effects, and provided the file is created with a "transparent" background layer, it automatically has an alpha-channel in the .PSD file. I simply insert the .PSD as my image file, then in overlay options, select alpha-channel. If you don't have PS, then Corel Photo-Paint or Jasc PaintShopPro will both do the same.

      Thanks for the tip.
Now that I'm using MSP 5.2 I can use paint to work with titles.

Actually, when you copy a file to the
        Windows clipboard, you create a
".CLP" file... which is **not** necessarily a Windows Metafile (.wmf).

        >How do Windows clipboard files
        >(CLP files) relate to Windows
        >metafiles?

        >A CLP file can simultaneously contain
        >a graphic in Picture (WMF), Enhanced >metafile (EMF), Bitmap (BMP) and other >formats. Some programs (such as Metafile >Companion) can extract these files from a >CLP file.

Plus, I think it's not accurate to say
a Windows Metafile is only 256 colors.

There are other reasons why the image
would degrade as the result of being
        copied to the Windows clipboard.

For best results... use the Video Paint
        program that you mentioned.

          Thanks again,

Ihave used CG to make some title bars like on tv.

I've tryied different settings to save my gradient title bars, but when I open them they are not as full and smooth as in CG.
Should I be using Paint in MSP 5.2?
          What shoul I do?
My gradients look like they are 256 colors even when saved as tif 24bits and bmp 24bits.

          anyone with similar problems?.
