  • MSP & editing performance issue

    Hi everyone,
I'm currently using MSP 2.5VE and I have made allot of videos with it. Sometimes I get great performance on my MMX P200 64mb 6gb system drive and a Atlas II 9GB video drive.
The problem is that hen I capture video @ Full Res 704x480 using RR remote and Import it to MSP it takes so long for MSP to generate the Clips onto the timeline. I have tried setting Cache settings to my video drive. Also when I try Scrubbing it snds out the video signal to my tv monitor. I think this is why it slows down my PC. Any ways of improving the performance of previewing clips and scrubing without having to shrink the file or using proxy.
I have gotten the Software to display very fast and I notice after defragmenting the drive this problem kind of occured. No it's not free space 4gb free.
when using the slidebar to move along the project it takes a while (few min) to display clips.
    CAn You Help Please?

Well, I have a similar problem in MSP 5.2 running on a PIII 450. It doesn't take a few minutes but I beleive the problem is related to the compression that the RR uses. It only slows on me when it is loading thumbnails for the video clips into the timeline. If I turn them off it goes fine. It also does it when I scrub thru. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to do it in premiere. I can't really help you, but maybe it helps to know your not alone?

      Thanks,

I no that I'm not alone, but those anyone seem to notice.
At first I thought it was b/c of my 200MMX PC using 64mb ram with 704x480 full size video.

I think it's either MSP or It requires alot more Ram than 64.

Any suggestions to improve loading time for thumbnail of clips.

I read somewhere here that if you leave the scratchpad open it improves greatly scrubbing.
I tryied it and it works + it helps with the thumbnail display.
