Maybe I now the solving of this problem. If it possible, set monitors vertical frequent equal or 2 times more then same in TV standart (50 Hz - PAL, 60 Hz - NTSC). Jitter will be invisible.

Chris,
I jitter problem is generated during the recording and not during the avi playback.
I can say that because I had in my hands for a few days both my old G200 and my new G400. I run a few tests with both the cards.
If I remember well my findings were:
An avi recorded with the G200 can be played back with the G400 without any jitter.
An avi recorded with the G400 plays back with jitter with both G200 and G400.
I don't have the G200 anymore so I cannot make any more tests.
Ciao
Sergey L
The jitter problem we are having, I think, it's not dependent on the monitor setting, the TV-out it's also bad.
The jitter in my opinion it due to a bad allignement between the two fields. If you you freeze the avi playback with the Matrox pc-vcr control the picture on the TV it's rock solid. As soon as you resume the play ... the jitter it's back.

Chris,
the jitter is present in any cases with recorded and played back directly clips or edited and re-rendered clips. It does not make any difference.
I start to think that it's an hardware problem between the G400 and RRG may be due to a marginal tollerance between components.
Did you received the video clips I sent you by e-mail a few days ago?

Hi Roby,
Well my testing was on a G300-TV and it is apparent from comments on this forum that this isn't necessarily the same hardware as a G400 and R-G.
Yes, I received the clip and sent it on to the appropriate place for analysis. I haven't heard anything back yet.
I was hoping that you were going to tell me that the problem appeared only after rendering in Ulead. Back to the drawing board I suppose.
Don't misunderstand me, this site aims to kill 99% of bugs stone dead. Sometimes it takes a bit longer than others. You aren't forgotten, and we'll do our best to get to the bottom of the problem.

I think I have seen this 'jitter' occasionally. It appears as a jagged edge on everything in the captured video which moves within the frame.
...For example, as soon as a fairly still shot is panned then all the vertical edges in the shot go wavy. Likewise, if someone walks accross a shot. They will have jagged vertical edges when the rest of the picture is ok.
When I have had this problem, I have re- recorded the clip and all has then been fine.
Is this the same 'jitter' that others have been experiencing?

Maybe this "dirty trick" will help you using AvidCinema in full-resolution PAL.
You can tweak AvidCinema into using a somewhat higher compression at the same resolution (2.7 mb/sec instead of 3.2 mb/sec, which may be just enough to get it working for you:
In the directory
C:\Program files\Avid Technology\Avid Cinema\Plug-ins\Hardware, locate the file
called "matroxbest-Pal.ini".
Edit this file with notepad, and change the number in the line that starts with "DataRate" into 2745000.
In the section "EnterCapture", modify the line {"QUALITY", "HIGH",""} into {"QUALITY", "MEDIUMHIGH",""} and save the file. AvidCinema will now use a slightly higher compression factor for "best-quality" PAL video, but you will still have full-resolution at 25 fps. As a side-effect you can store 20% more video on your drive!
In fact, there are many more resolution / compression combinations that you can realize by tweaking this file.... I'm currently working on a program (TweakCinema) that will automate this...
Resistance is futile - Microborg will assimilate you.

I have done the following test.
If I enable the Clone Dual Head the vertical jitter on the PC monitor in full screen and on the TV-Out disappears.
The image on the TV-out has black borders and the overall picture quality does not seems to be so great but the jitter is gone.
Of course the Mjpeg output should work without the Clone dualhead enabled.
Can someone with the problem try the above setup and report the results?
Thanks.
