  • DC-10+ question (sorry)

Please excuse me for posting here (yes, I have tried Pinnacle, etc). I am a happy G200 Marvel user, but I'm trying to help a friend with a DC-10+.

He has a 30 minute project finished in rendered avis by scene (5min or so each), but when he strings them together and renders them (or tries to string them together and play in Premiere or the Studio DC10 software) it always stops playing after 15 minutes. His solution is a horrible consumer VCR cut.

Are you able (on your test board) to output over 15-30 minutes at full res (3k/s) without any problems?

Do you think the avi_io output function would solve the problem?

Thanks for you help. (and apologies for asking non-Matrox questions...)

Sorry CJ, the DC10 is packed up ready to return to the supplier, so I can't check.

Can you approximate what the total size of the the files was ? Especially the size around that 15minute mark.

BTW, no need to apologise. I'm happy to share what knowledge I have on ANY video product. If only I had more knowledge of other products !

Well, is it possible the file size is approaching 2 gigabytes. If so, the problem is with windows. You can't get any bigger.

I am quite new to this card, but it sais on the package "- overcomes the 2gb video for windows file size limitation, so you can make longer movies "
Havent tried it yet - just wanted to let you know.

I suspect this might be his problem, but I have to clarify this point with him. If this is the problem, could he possibly dump all his clips end to end into the Ulead media studio timeline, then playback without rendering to get around 2gb?

Or will the avi_io output function possibly help to get around it?

You should be able to play back from the mediastudio timeline. You need to make sure all compression settings match on all clips and are the same as the preview setup. Then Stretch the preview area out to the whole project and smack the enter key.
