Hardware and MSP 6.0

It's been said that MSP 6.0 is supposed to support DV capture and editing. Does that mean that I can get just a vanilla firewire port and use MSP to do the captures, or do I have to have a special DV firewire card?

MSP6 is just into beta-testing, I'll see if I can dig something up.

From what I heard (DV Expo preview, ...), MSP 6.0 will support both. So it should support both all the OHCI Firewire ports (like on the Asus P3B-IEEE1394 board, several laptop-Firewire ports, cheap Firewire PCI cards) as well as the specialized DV cards like Raptor, ...

It should be an integration like in Prmeiere 5.1 now: plugins for the specialized cards, native support for the OHCI Firewire ports.

In both cases: capturing, machine control and output straight from within MSP6, without external software visible.

But, as said, this is based on the DVXpo rumours. Nothing is solid. Only a technology preview was shown there.
