DV on desktiop help.....

I have a PIII 550 with 128RAM. I also have a Sony Hi8 Digital video camera that has a DV i\o fire wire port. I would like to download both stills and full motion video down to my machine for manipulation. What do I buy as a capture card for the machine.

You will need a DV capture card. There are a few to choose from. They start inexpensive and get expensive quickly! I have a Canopus RAPTOR - about middle of the price range - and I love it.

Is your D8 DV-in enabled? If it is disabled (most EU models are like this) you will have to find a way to get it enabled to get the most out of DV editing. There are several sites offering the necessary s/w and h/w.
