marvel g400 copy protection ?!

I would like to buy a marvel G400.
According to some tests on the net, this card has a protection against copy from vhs movies and you can't record any movie.
Is it true?
Then is there a patch to pass this protection?

No it isn't true that you can't capture from "any" VHS source.

It IS true that you can't capture from any deliberately Macrovision-encoded source (such as tapes from Disney, Lucasfilms etc).

I'm not going to comment on the general subject of MV, since my own views are well know around here.

There are hacked drivers available, do a search on "macrovision" on this forum and you will find some answers. But bear in mind that hacked drivers "may" have detrimental as well as beneficial results (ie it it no use howling if your system doesn't work according to spec using such drivers).
