Software to convert .mov to .avi?

I have Adobe Premiere 5.1, Digital Origin Firewire card, and Sony trv900 camera. Just bought Videowave III software because I have not found Adobe Premiere to be intuitve to use. But the card imports as .mov and I need .avi for Visewave III. It takes Priemiere 3 days to convert a small file! Is there any other solution? I have a Matrox g-200 but wish to maintain digital files through firewire capture.

QT pro's export is pretty slow as well. mediacleaner is another option that i haven't tried.

QT2 MOVs you can make into AVIs really quickly with SmartVid from Intel.
