  • MAX/RR-G having problems with Live Value

    Hello.

I just hot my G400Max/RR-G combo up and running and am having problems with the sound pass-thru to my SB Live Value. When the passthru cable is connected up I get a constant static noise and you can can barely hear the sound being brought in. I unplugged any input device coming into the RR (a vcr in my case) and it still makes the static sound so it isn't my connection for the source.

I currently am able to plug the source directly to the Live card and can record that way. I'd like to hook it up like it's supposed to be.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try swapping your audio in/audio out cables.

I have the same problems but only when I record directly from tape. The TV sound comes
in clear but the VCR sound comes in with static. I have tried swapping cables no ideas
lefy except to get the add on board with the
      RCA inputs. Any help appreciated.
      My System is:
      Celeron 333A O/C to 450
      128 PC-100 Ram
      3.5 gig/20 gig/8 gig HDDs
G400 non max and RR/G (both brand new)
      Toshiba 40X SCSI CD
      SB LIVE
      Lots of other goodies

Whenever I hear an SBL problem, two fixes come to mind. Firstly, make sure that you are running the latest SBL drivers, and secondly some folks claim that they can only get static-free audio capture by by-passing the BOB altogether

OK I have the latest drivers and have tried to put the audio in directly into the RR/G or
the SBL but teh sound goes out completely if I try this. I have great audio out when making a VHS tape but crappy audio in?? Also
          what is "BOB"??
          HELP!!

Are you passing the sound from the RRG in through the line-in or the mic? The mic has 20db boost if you need it... But also, did you check the input volume slider for line-in or mic? I mean the red one on the left side of the creative surround mixer, not the yellow one... make sure you select line in or mic on the red icon and adjust the volume of the red slider...

Thanks it is working better through the mic
input instead of the line input. The sound is
a little scratchy still but better than it was. I might look into the add on card for my live to see if that helps.

                A "BOB" is a break-out-box (for cables/connections etc). However RR-G doesn't have one.
