  • Marvel G400 and no (live) sound

I can not get sound from the TV tuner through the PC-VCR, video is fine. If I record an AVI of the TV then play the resulting file (in PC-VCR), it has sound. So the phyiscal connections are fine, what's with PC-VCR?

    Specs:
    5.41 drivers (same problem w/5.25, 5.3), 1.51 Vid Tools
Xitel Storm Platnium - Aureal 2440 drivers

I take it the TV is not on mute?

    - sorry, had to ask! -
The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

Yep, you have to manually un-mute the line-in (or whatever channel you are using) on your soundcards mixer.

The line-in isn't muted. I looked at both the Windows Volume Control and the one inside PC-VCR (prop. -> recording -> audio levels).

            Hi Lawrence,

Well that worked over here, so I would assume that mebbe you have your audio-in hooked into a different channel on your mixer.

Try unmuting each channel in turn to see if you can isolate which channel is being used

Tried all the other inputs, no dice. It had to be correct to start with or I wouldn't have recorded sound when capturing a clip.

Though I already sent another reply, oh well. I figured out the problem, The_Idiot was correct, line-in was muted. However, it wasn't the one I thought (recording), there's a line-in option in playback. Weird since one doesn't think of line-in as 'playing back'. It didn't show up by default in the Volume Control, eventually got to showup and all's well.
