  • My BOB is busted.

My BOB for Marvel G200tv works fine for everything except audio in. Until recently I haven't captured anything that had audio so I never noticed. Anyways it has been almost 1 year since I bought it so who should I contact to get my BOB replaced/fixed? Should I try going through the person I bought it from first or through Matrox? In other words who will give me the least amount of headache and bullcrap?

    Thanks,
    Thien

Get in touch with Matrox Tech Support to check the technical details, if they are satisfied then they will pass you over to the RMA section.

      Hi TnT,

Better check your sound settings EVERYWHERE first.
Especially the Windows Mixer RECORDING Options AND the "Audio Levels" in "PC-VCR Remote Properties\Recording", so that nothing important is muted.

      Pertti

(ps. have you checked that your Bob audio out is going to soundcard line IN ?)

P.S. -- If you're not watching TV, you don't need your BOB for audio and you shouldn't use it for that purpose 'cuz it'll add noise and it's annoying as heck.

          Hi,

have you tried to record some video stuff, while having connected the audio directly to the line-in of the soundcard?

Does audio-out work on the BOB, because as Pertti said, the labels on the cables are a little confusing. So you may have switched those.

          Good luck,

          Marijn

I've watched TV using the BOB with audio, outputted video and audio to VCR, captured video(which had audio but didn't capture), recorded music through sound in, I've done basically everything except capture audio!

BTW-fluggo99, how would I record audio from a camcorder without using the BOB's audio in?

            Thanks anyway

You connect your camcorder's audio out straight into your sound card's audio in. I prefer to do it that way, because it skips any extra connections (a bad or loose connection anywhere can result in noise or radio signals, so less=more) and it keeps me from having to figure out if the BOB's audio-in should be connected to my audio out or vice-versa and backwards all over again.

(Actually, come to check the diagram, the jack labeled "Audio Out" should connect to the sound card's "Line In." Do like Marijn said and check to see if maybe you got those swapped.)

It reduces headaches to skip the BOB with audio; the only reason you would need those connections is if you were using the RF-IN on the BOB because the BOB's tuner has to separate the audio from the signal and give it to you. Otherwise it's a royal pain in the butt and switches off audio-in/out every once in a while like when your video apps aren't being used.

                TnT,

as Pertti said "...Especially the Windows Mixer RECORDING Options AND the "Audio Levels" in "PC-VCR Remote Properties \ Recording", so that nothing important is muted."
if there is nothing muted in the pc vcr (and i know it might sound dumb) but check that the levels in pc vcr are all at the top.

also try leaving the windows volume control open when you record, just to see if anything gets muted.
