  • S-VHS cable problem

Just bought a S-VHS cable for less interferance between the video and the
RRG. But when I connected it. The picture
went black & white. The thing is I dont have
    a S-VHS cable input,output on the VCR.
I'm using a scart adapter. Can it be the problem that the VCR don't produce the
    correct output.

Also another problem I have is that the PC-VCR dont turn of the input audio when I close
it. It's a bit anouying that everytime after
using it I have to turn it of manully ( Ain't very fun playing Half-Life with the television sound in the background.)
Anyone got a solution for the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

This isn't much help, but I have the same two problems, so you are not alone.

I bought a SCART adaptor with an S-video socket output, for my video recorder, to connect to the Marvel G200. The S-video input is in black and white, the composite from the same SCART adaptor is in colour.
    Sound:
We have 2 G200s : A PCI that switches sound off when PC-VCR is finished, and an AGP that doesn't.
I suspect it's more down to the m/board and soundcard combination than Matrox. (I just turn the VCR off if I don't want to hear it)

      First of all:
to use a S-Vhs cable you need a S-Vhs Videorecorder...
Ok, normally S-Vhs videorecorder has a S-Vhs connector for input/output, if not, you can use the scart where the S-video signals are avaliable for output.
      Strange thinks?
No, the S-video signal in the scart connector use the same conductor (by mind pin 15, i can't check now) for input and output, that means you need a scart connector for S-video input but you need a second scart connector to have S-video output. Results, you need to know wich scart is for S-video input and wich one is for output, you can check the manual, and you need also to switch the output mode to S-video (normally is set to Composite) via a switch or a menu choice of your videorecorder. If you use the wrong connector or you don't switch output to S-video you can only get black an white signal.

Thank you TommyS, My video machine is not S-VHS, now I understand why I get black and white if I use an S-video SCART adaptor. I could have wasted hours trying to fix this, when it wasn't fixable,

        MURC Forums do it again!
