  • g400 + rainbowrunner = can you make a vcd?

The final goal is to make some type of a cd from my camcorder tapes that can play in a dvd player.

From what I have gathered, I can make a v-cd on my computer's cd/rw drive, using nero. The only thing I need to get is my video converted to some type of mpeg format.

Can the RainbowRunner do this (I have a g400max)?
Does the RR come with the necessary software?
Is there other software available that can do this (say from my other canupus128 video board?)
    Has anyone even tried this?

    Thanks!!

I have used the Xing MPEG Encoder to convert the avi to MPEG-1 format. I haven't used the Nero to burn before, but the Easy CD Creator Deluxe (3.5 or 4.0) will take the MPEG-1 file and make the CD in the proper format.

Commercial DVD is still pretty rare here in the UK, so I haven't bothered trying to work out how its done (I couldn't test it anyway). I think that it may be possible to produce a VCD that a DVD player can cope with from a PC, but I don't see how full DVD will be possible without an expensive DVD writer.

There have been a lot of ideas on this subject, try searching the forum for DVD and Video CD

          Hey Neil,
Can you let me know what your final solution/conclusion is? I'm considering buying the MillenniumG400Max & RRG over the MarvelG400TV if I can get the two on the same playing field.
          Thanks!
