  • Vidoe tools protected source remover problems

I found out, through my experience, that "Matrox Video Tools v1.51 "copy-protected source" Remover" crack thingy caused me problems. I have made many other videos and files in the past with the Matrox software and Ligos software, AVI and MPEG videos and files. I wanted to try the protection remover software crack I found somewhere on the internet. I cannot remember exactly where I found it but have the name and info of where it came from, if anyone wants to konw, by E-mail. if ever necessay, but I do not want to pass on cracks, hacks, or anything, nor be responsible.
I ran installed and ran the crack. I ran my video capture off my VCR on a VCR tape that was made of some party by someone. I ran 1/2 the tape, about 1 hour, and copied it, and made an AVI file with the Video Tools 151. I then used Ligos to convert it to MPG. It had problems and gave me orror messages while trying to make the file. The error messages had to do with the 'Bitrate' being bad, I took out, uninstalled, the crack program thingy that was supposed to remove protection. I then had to completely unistall al my Matrox software because it wacked everything. I completely re-installed al my matrox software, everything, even DirectX software. So, I would suggest that anyone wanting to go-around copy protection ber vary careful It seemed to work ok with the Videotools Matrox software, but Ligos program hated the AVI files it was trying to convvert to MPG.
God I hope I made my experieces clear as I don't want more questions. I do not have any plans of trying to make any copies of videso with copy protection, but was ready in case that happened. It did seem to work for the original purpose, so I am not saying it did not work. I am saying that in the next step of my work, it gave me problems. Just a heads up for anyone that cares.

I have used it successfully to copy/edit several homemade tapes that I have made that my RRG thinks are Macrovision protected... maybe it is a problem with the Marvel G400? I have a Max/RRG and I know that the Marvel G400 has a newer codec chipset than the RRG...

I've converted the captures to just about everything... non MJPEG AVIs, ASF, MOV, MPG 1 and 2 without any problems... including VCDs...

perhaps there was another element in your system that may have caused all of this because the macrovision patch only touches two files... neither of which have anything to do with DirectX. One is the Video for Windows driver and the other is the RRG API.

or maybe you have a different patch than I have...
