I am about to purchase a new Athlon based system with the new geforce256 video card installed but my wife bought me a new jvc cybercam GR-DVF21 cam it came with ffirewire to hook up with and Jlip software but I am new to all this they recomend a Digital Origin card for the pci slot I dont know anything about video capture or anything so I am the idiot anybody who has any suggestions as to what card would be best to install ? something tried and true ? please help? thanks! and Merry Christmas!!

If you're talking about the IntroDV, MotoDV or EditDV they aren't display cards but IEEE 1394 Firewire interface cards & software for importing and editing video from your ditital cam.
They should work together, but you should check with them and the maker of your GeForce256 for any compatability issues.

Tried and true, but certainly not cheap, Canopus DVRaptor. If in doubt, do a search on the forum for "raptor".
Even more expensive and possibly not yet available, try Pinnacle/Miro DV500 (check my preview on the main site). Does analog & DV, near-realtime FX, cool card ! RT2000 even more expensive, certainly not on any shelves yet, about as realtime as it gets (so far). Again, read the preview for details.
As you point out, there is a plethora of cheaper cards, the site hasn't tested any of these out yet.
