Should I get a 2nd monitor or a better TV for DH?

Hi all,

I'm wondering what I should get for my 2nd display on my dualhead.. i'm currently using the ADI Microscan 19".. pretty good monitor i suppose (from what i was using before at least), but I need something for my 2nd display. I'm not sure if I should get another monitor or get a high quality TV... i've used a TV, but the quality was so crappy that I couldn't do anything on it. I'm wondering if it's because of the quality of the TV or is it simply because TVs do not get high resolution at all (the TV was a 21" mitsubishi)... if i can get good quality from a TV, then I would.. i would even be willing to plunk down some serious cash for a Sony WEGA if i'm guaranteed the quality would be good.

Any suggestions or experience? personally, i want to get a WEGA.. simply because i need a new TV anyways. But DH is important to me, and I already have a TV.. but if i can get WEGA and it does both, then i'm sold.

For my Marvels I use old Commodore 1702 composite C64 monitors, which have very high quality images and are CHEAP. Mine cost less than $50 USD at a swap meet. You can even rig an S-Video cable to its rear connectors with some creative wiring.

Mine are mounted on wall TV platforms next to my main monitor (Avitron 19" Trinitron)

If you plan to use the second monitor for video editing so that you can see the video output, I would agree completely with what Doc has stated about using the old Commodore monitors. This is also what I use when editing video. However, if you want the second monitor to be an extension of your desktop viewing area, forget it, go with a second computer monitor. I think you would find that the resolution would just not be acceptable no matter what quality TV monitor you used.
