  • Help! Advice please on video capture for realmedia?

    Hi all,
    any help is greatly appreciated.
My project at work is to set up some realplayer streamed video showing some presentations on the web. We have a digital camcorder which will be used for taking the video but I need to get it onto my PC and encode it using RealProducer. I got a cheap parallel port grabber that can create AVI files but when using RealProducer it loses the audio after the first half second.
So I have come to the conclusion that I need a much better capture card system.
Has anyone used the Marvel G400 for anything like this? The Matrox site only states that in can capture in MJPEG format? Does anyone know what other formats its supports?
I like Matrox cards and would like to stick with Matrox if possible as I know it is a nightmare to get capture cards and video cards to work together....
Is the Marvel up to the task?
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Bill,

I have a Marvel G-200, not a G-400. I use my Marvel all the time to capture video (in MJPEG format) and then convert it to Real Video format. I have used Real Producer to do the conversion and I have used Ulead MSP to do it. I think doing the conversion from Ulead MSP gives a little more control over things than you get with Real Producer (the free version anyway).

Anyway, to answer your question, I am sure you could use a Marvel G-400 to capture to MJPEG and then convert that to Real Video format.
