  • Recording problem with the Morgan Codec

    Hi,
    I just finished my 6:30 min long video, using Marvel G400-TV and Premiere 5.1. I captured the clips with the Morgan MJPEG Codec trial ver.1.30. I used transitions, titles, soundclips (22 kHz 16b stereo)etc.
    I tried the Morgan to avoid the multiple B/W failures with the Matrox MJPEG Codec in Premiere. Captured and exported with 704x576 PAL.
    Everything works fine when I play the file. It works from file to screen with the MS Mediaplayer2, it works with the PC-VCR, EXCEPT the RECORDING to VHS recorder (the same as with the capturing ) Tried to export to video with Premiere. Tried to record with the PC-VCR. Nothing but the audio was recorded. I made a try to set the dmb1 in the Morgan, nothing. Finally, recompressing a short clip in the same project with the Matrox MJPEG Codec, the recording works well. BUT takes 3x the time as with the Morgan. (Maybe because the REcompressing the whole project)
    Now it's late in the night... I am angry :-( and I am tired...
    What am I doing wrong? Why the Morgan codec doesn't work for me? Please, HELP, anybody?

    Eureka!
    I found the solution, thanks to this forum and especially thanks to Uwe in his answer posted 21 sept 1999. I made the changes as Uwe sugested:

    "...Change the line: vidc.MJPG=m3jpeg32.dll
    to: vidc.dmb1=m3jpeg32.dll

    After that enable&change the FourCC entry in the Morgan-codecĀ“s control-panel to 'dmb1'. ..."

    My system.ini contains now this lines:

    msacm.l3codec=l3codecp.acm
    ;;for Matrox:
    ;;VIDC.dmb1=RRIcm.dll
    ;; for Morgan:
    VIDC.dmb1=m3jpeg32.dll
    ;;Morgan:
    ;;msacm.l3acm=l3codecx.acm
    ;;vidc.MJPG=m3jpeg32.dllNote the switch off: ;;
    In conclusion, it works only with "replacement" of the Matrox codec with the Morgan. Its speed is at least 20% higher and the .AVI file is smaller (80-85% the Matrox's).
    I like it. I'll buy the licence. (25$)
