  • Rainbow Runner Studio Cables

    Hi anyone and everyone,

Does anyone know what the pinout of the RR-Studio connector is? If not, anyone know where I can get a cable from (I'm in the UK).

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Whats the problem, have you bust what you had or are you wanting to extend ?

I'll push this on to see what the spares situation is

      Hi Chris,

I've been given a RR-Studio, but is missing the cable.

2nd question, I already have a RR-G setup in my machine, this RR-Studio is for my dad - what's the quality like in comparison with the RR-G?

      Cheers,

      Steve

        Hi Steve,

Qualitywise you won't be disapointed, I'm still using mine on my work machine with a Mystique220.

              http://www.matrox.com/mga/tech_supp/...df/mysteng.pdf
              Page 22
              Pin
              1-2 Reserved
              3 Y out (luminance)
              4 C out (chroma)
              5 Composite out
              6 Y in (luminance)
              7 C in (chroma)
              8 Composite In
              9-15 Ground

If you use the RGB output then the pinouts for this are different. I have been unable to get this information from Matrox and what I did was I plugged a scope onto the back of the card and figured it out. I could do it again if you want to know the RGB pins.

Thanks all for your replies! salacious - that should do the trick.

I rarely stray into this DTV forum from the others - I see you're not such a scary bunch of people after all!

                Cheers,

Wow, I'm impressed! On the crappy cyrix 233 I put the RR-S into, I was able to get pretty good captures and with very few frame drops too! To be honest I was expecting this to be far below the RR-G I have, but am quietly pleased.

                  Cheers,

                  Steve

The TV output of the RR-S was actually better than that of the original Marvel G200 due to a problem with the Maven chip. This was fixed on later Marvels (which are 250MHz rather than 230MHz RAMDAC). This was shown up by a green tinge to the TV output.

I believe the core of these cards are identical, so any difference in picture quality is down to components changes and board design.
