  • PAL-resolution on Marvel 400?

Hi there, just got my Marvel and spent all evening and night installing. Now I wanted to check if I could still convert NTSC to PAL like with the old Mystique+Rainbow Runner duo.

But: The Rainbow Runner allowed me to set my TV-display to 704x576. I wasn´t able to set this on the Marvel. Is there any chance to get this working? NTSC-resolution (640x480) works but what if I want to record PAL-videos without black bars on all four sides?

I also had LOTS of flashing green lines in the video when the Marvel TV-output was on. I somewhere read this was "normal". I was able to minimize the lines when setting my main display to full screen display of the video, but is there no real fix for that?

Also I spent about 3 hours trying to find out why my SoundBlaster Live just worked when I started PC-VCR and switched to LINE or TV. It wouldn´t produce any sound otherwise, but worked fine for a while after using PC-VCR. I then just for the heck of it connected the SB-Live DIRECTLY to my speakers (NOT via the BOB) and voila, sound again. Is this a bug or a "feature" of Marvel that it won´t put through the audio unless the BOB got audio-input from somewhere else?

Under the Display Settings change the TV output to PAL and enable TV output.

Open up Videotools and watch your source NTSC video. If you look at your TV you will see that it has a black border all around the screen. To remove this adjust the monitor setup (width & height) in the Display Settings although it doesn't change on the Monitor it does on the TV. You can only change the horizontal and vertical size is you are using Powerdesk 5.x

I never had any problems with my SB Live.

Thanks! I found this out myself playing around yesterday :-) Up to now I was able to choose 800x600 and extend the output to fit the TV. Must be a real strain though processor wise to recalculate NTSC-video (640x480) to 800x600 for each frame. Will try to extend the 640x480 on the TV next.

I just connected my SBLive as usual now without the Matrox Connector Box. This works just great, so I blame the Matrox soft- or hardware. As I said: It worked after I opened PC-VCR.
