  • Video card causes machine to re boot intermittantly - why?

    Hi all,

i have recently put in a G100 MMS video card with tv tuner into my machine - however, everytime i view a avi or mpeg or even a powerpoint slide, when the applications attempting to close down, it causes my machine to just restart! - why is that?

Another thing is that the tv tuner software doesnt seem to recognise that i have a tv tuner card - it says it cant find it!
    please help

    TIA
    Steelo

        Steelo,

G100s are pretty rare beasts. Have you talked to Matrox support about your problem, I don't think that we have enough (collective) expertise to help.

If you need help in getting in touch with Matrox then let me know, but their new website is pretty easy to navigate

        Cheers

        Chris

Chris, cheers for that - i've found the contact number for them and will give em a call asap - thanks again!

btw, from what you know about the g100 mms, is it half decent?

          Thaks again..

Well it was the first of the G series cards, and really was only aimed at the corporate market, mainly as a bundled card in OEM machines. 2D (as always with Matrox cards) will be very good, 3D extremely basic. For video capture it won't make a lot of odds since it's only used for the overlay - the Rainbow Runner does all the donkey work.
