  • G400 Marvel Codec question

Will the Morgan codec use the G400 Marvel cards hardware or is it now simply a software codec that uses the computers CPU?

Has anyone had any success exporting a movie in Adobe Premiere 5.1c by selecting the Matrox MJPEG as the codec? I capture the video using Matrox Remote then import the AVI, render my work, and then try to export or print to video with no luck. If I choose another codec it works. Any ideas?

    Hi,

    I have a G400 marvel.

Apart from a few bugs, i can export from Premiere 5.1c

Make sure your frame size is set to 704x576, 352x576 or 352x288.

In other words, you can only export to MJPEG at resolutions it supports.

The Morgan codec is software only, it will not utilise the Marvel's hardware.

        Scouser & This_Idiot,

Thank you for the dimensions and educating me with the Morgan codec! I think I will stick with the original Matrox compression.

Here is a strange story but probably not for this forum. I adjusted the frame size to 704 x 576 and exported movie with MJPEG compression. Yeah it worked but does not make any sense because the Matrox PC-VCR Remote recorded my avi in 704 X 480 so why couldn’t I export movie with these settings? The STRANGE PART is after I exported once in the 704 x 576 as suggested I decided to try the original settings of 704 X 480 and to my surprise it worked (trust me I tried these many times over in the past with no luck), not only did that work but now any dimension seems to work. Is this a bug with Premiere (or compatibility issue), Matrox or am I missing something here? I am using drivers 5.41 and video tools 1.51.

How can you capture at 704*480 ??

I am only able to capture at 704*576! (PAL)(MJPEG) ?
or 640*480 if RGB (without compression so no full framerate)

I have the NTSC version and I captured using the Matrox PC-VCR Remote. I think another factor that helped me be able to work with Premiere was I downloaded the presets for Adobe Premiere and started to use them. I think they were meant for another Matrox card but seem to be working for me. Last night I selected the NTSC Full preset and everything was working just fine.
