  • Pixelans SpiceMaster announced

Pixelans SpiceMaster is a product for those of you who want more control over your transitions. WAY more control.

Just for beginners it gives you advanced keyframeable control over 2D transitions, dynamic mattes and organic effects with glow, softness, transparancy, position (offcentered application), textures and dropshadow. By mixing these many, many effects can be obtained.

Pixelan has put up an info sheet and trial version at their site:

    www.pixelan.com/smasterdetails.html

By the way: it also works with all the wipes bundled with the RT-2000, DV-500 and many others. You can even make your own effects with your graphics editor and can save any changes made to your "standard" effects for later re-use.

This is a very neat product. More info later ;-)

It does seem slightly pricey, though... Doc, do you think that the lowest price version without the extra CD's is worth it, or would it be worth it to pay that much more for the full package?

      Hi there,

for what I heard on the MSP mailing list, even the free trial version has some great functionality that works unlimited. Only for some fancy features there will be a 'X' mark in the result. A lot of people on the list have responded that the free (lite) version would be a 'must have' for everyone.

I've downloaded it and will give it a try soon...

Yes, I agree that the lite version is a must have, if for no other reason than the control over masks you can achieve with its keyframe editor.

As for the plain vs. full drawer package, that depends on your talent. If you can create gradient masks in your graphics program then the basic package should be enough.

Pixelan provides some free Spices and you can easily figure out how they work by loading 'em into a graphics editor and doing a side-by-side with the previews in the SpiceMaster Libray program. From then on you just let the creative (and observational) juices flow.
