  • Recording DVD format on CDR to play in set top DVD player?

I've read a few related threads below, but they don't actually address this question:

Can set-top DVD players play a DVD format video that is recorded on CD-R or CD-RW?

I know that only dual laser DVD players can physically read CD-Rs. I know you can make Video CDs (MPEG-1) videos that play in set-top DVD players.

I also know that you can use tools like DVD Toolbox and DVDit to record DVD Videos on to CD-Rs. And those CD-Rs will play back using >PC< software DVD Players.

I'm asking specifically about DVD Format (MPEG-2, video, etc.), recorded on CD-R/RW, and played on a >set-top< player. The only difference between this and an actual DVD would be the maximum length of the video.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Thanks!
