  • RRS dropping all frames

    Hello All,
I've been reading the posts for about 1 month now and have really learned a lot. Thanks to all. Now I've got my own problem. Not big, just a huge annouance. Just recently my capture (RRS) starts dropping all frames. It seems to be related to capture compression ratio. At first it would shut down at 13:1 or lower. Couldn't get it to work at all. Now it works OK MOST of the time after updating system bios. Now it starts dropping frames, sometimes at 11:1 and always at 8.3:1 or higher. After a max of 50 or so seconds it just starts dropping all frames. Second capture it starts dropping within 10 seconds. It started when I instaled ATI_IO. I'm not at all blaming ATI_IO, thats just when it started. I use SCSI drives benchmarked at 8.6 MG/sec dedicated for capture. I constantly defrag & my projects are generally very small. (Auditions for my to daughter to send to BC or LA, & demo tapes.) I've totally uninstalled Matrox and reinstalled. No difference. Things are a lot better, since bios update but not how it used to be. (capture at any compression available.) Does anyone have any experience with this problem. I need help on this one.

Hi Dale. What source are you capturing from?
Is it always the same source?(camcorder, vhs
vcr, svhs vcr etc.)Possible cabling problem try swapping cables.
I'd start with the simple stuff first.
