    Need help befor its to late!!

    I really need help with this before it is to late..

    I have a G400 MAX and I have orderd a Rainbow Runner. The problem is that after I have read some of the topics in this forum and I dont know what to do...

    First of all, I dont think my powersupply can handle the RR because its only 0,3A at -5V but its 0,8A at -12V. Does that mean I have to get me a new powersupply??

    Secondly, I have heard somewere that there is two types of RR. One that you attach to your G400 and one that is a standalone card. I dont really know ANYTHING about this so I really need help here!! Which one works with my G400MAX??
    I dont even know what typ of card I have orderd... I only told my dealer that I wanted RR.

    I know there are lots of topics about these issues but I cant seem to get the hang of them. Its like a jungle to me...
    There might still be time to cancel the order so any help is appriciated.

    What motherboard do you have? You'll most likely need a new power supply with a minimum of 0.5Amps at both -5, -12V.

    The "standalone" card is a Marvel - it's like a G400 and a RR-G rolled into one giant doobie, err i mean card. You wouldn't be able to use this seeing how you already have a G400Max. There's also an older version of the RR-G for the older Millenium & Millenium 2 PCI cards. You'd want an RR-G, not a RR.

    So, what should you do? If I were you, I'd cancel the order and wait until these issues are resolved, also you might wanna replace your Power supply unit before you go ahead and buy an RR-G. But odds are if you buy now you probably won't end up with a fully functional product.

      From all the reports that I have seen on this problem, it only appears to happen with Abit motherboards in conjunction with a power supply that doesn't have a sufficiently high amperage rating on the -5 and -12v lines.

      I haven't seen anyone specifically mention any other motherboard.

        hehe dont know really what motheboard I have. My manual sais its a MS-6163 ATX BX13 and when I start my computer is sais its som i440BX or something ,. hm maby its the same thing.. dunno

          A quick search for "ms-6163" on Altavista shows it to be a Micro-star.
