  • video directdraw overlay-gamma adjustment

    Hi
I forgot, sorry, my mistake. What am I talking about? Playing mpegs or avi files on my G400DH 32 MB with windows media player. Drivers are PD5.5 Beta and my question was. When I open any mpeg or avi file in windows media player, why matrox gamma adjusting option doesn`t provide increasing gamma level for being played movie(no fullscreen, e.g. windowed 320x240), but only provide increasing gamma level for desktop area. I think windows media player play movies through directdraw overlay-DDO and matrox gamma option hasn`t control over it, therefore i think it`s a unsupported function of MATROX PowerDesk drivers.
I heard, that drivers of Nvidia TNT2 and new 3dfx V3 drivers too, have tools to provide video overlay gamma adjustment.

    my comp.spec. P2 450Mhz,AOC5glr,128MB sdram,AbitBH6,G400DH32MB PD 5.5 beta+DX7,Voodoo2sli,.....WIN98

    sorry my english stuff

    John,

With just a plain G400DH32MB, you might want to check the Matrox Hardware forum, that's where the experts on the latest PD:s can be found.
We here are always a bit behind (the VideoTools requiring compatible ones).

Thanks, but that is the main problem. I posted it often to MATROX HARDWARE FORUM, but no answer yet, guys from MHF aren`t aware of it.
I`m newbie in stuff video capturing and I don`t know, if my explanations are right, but I found on Matrox forum many guys with my trouble, but no solutions there.

Mr.Daniel Lawrence from Matrox support sent me following "I would suggest getting the latest version of the Windows Media Player, as I am unable to reproduce your problem while using the latest version."
Doh..,I have latest PD, I have latest Windows media player,I have latest everything.. shit,I must be stupid.

      sorry my english stuff

      regards

        video directdraw overlay-gamma adjustment

Matrox gamma adjustment options don`t work with WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER and all movies (mpeg,avi..) being played with WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER are shown dark. When I turn off the hardware acceleration in windows media player, gamma starts working but video is not played in correct full screen resolution.
Why Matrox gamma adjustment option doesn`t work in Direct Draw overlay playing video(mpg, avi).
Guys are you aware of it?

        regards

Since you posted here, I am assuming that you are talking about RR, RR-G or the Marvel, and the video being something you have captured yourself (You didn't give enough information, so I had to make assumptions)

The colour adjustments of video has to be done during capturing of the footage, or when sending the video out to TV/VCR.

Maybe you should find your manual and read it couple of times, together with the applicable help and readme files.

You could also try adjusting your monitor settings, the controls can be found on your monitor (read your monitor manual).
